What this boat is

Pearl 80 — 1

The Pearl 80 is a 23.9-metre planing flybridge yacht combining Dixon Yacht Design naval architecture and exterior styling with interiors by Kelly Hoppen. Its four-cabin accommodation, separate quarters for two crew and extensive outdoor living areas suit owners cruising with family or friends, while its semi-custom specification means individual examples differ in engines, furnishings and equipment.

The model in detail

Produced from 2017 to 2022, the Pearl 80 made its public debut at the 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. British brand Pearl commissioned Dixon Yacht Design for the naval architecture and exterior, with Kelly Hoppen responsible for the interior. The GRP hull and superstructure were manufactured in China; contemporary reporting describes subsequent finishing work in Southampton. Overall length is 23.9 metres, with approximately six metres of beam and a 1.6-metre draft.

Pearl 80 — 2

The main deck places the saloon aft, with a raised galley to port and the lower helm forward. Large side windows and overhead glazing bring daylight into the forward living area. The galley can be screened from the saloon by an electrically operated partition. Dining arrangements varied with owner preference: examples feature a breakfast bar, a forward dining area or a more open lounge relying principally on the exterior tables.

Below deck, eight guests occupy four cabins: a full-beam amidships master, a forward VIP and two twin guest cabins. The VIP’s angled double bed creates space for additional furniture and storage. The twin cabins incorporate corridor-facing glazing with privacy blinds, allowing daylight into the central passage. Separate accommodation for two crew sits between the master suite and machinery space, with access from the port side deck.

The deep-V planing hull was developed with new tooling for shaft propulsion through V-drives. Published engine choices include twin Caterpillar C18 diesels rated at 1,150hp, twin 1,400hp MANs and twin 1,800hp MAN V12s. Dixon quotes up to 30 knots with the Caterpillar installation; a contemporary test of the larger MAN installation recorded 35.5 knots. Published cruising figures are around 25 knots, with a quoted range of approximately 350 nautical miles.

Outdoor accommodation spans the shaded aft cockpit, a foredeck seating and sunbathing area, and a large flybridge with dining facilities and a wet bar. The stern combines a garage for a small tender or personal watercraft with a hydraulic bathing platform. Hardtops with opening roof sections, a flybridge spa pool and stabilisation appear on equipped examples, but should not be assumed on every hull.

Evolution centred on semi-custom choices rather than a documented succession of numbered versions. Pearl advertised Taupe, Studio and Luxury interior schemes in 2019, alongside individual layout and equipment choices. A published review also describes a triple Volvo Penta IPS1200 propulsion option. Pearl promoted the model for US and Caribbean cruising, emphasising its three outdoor social areas; buyers comparing used examples therefore need to distinguish the original specification from later additions.
