What this boat is

The Sealine F46 is a 14.7-metre flybridge motor yacht that combines an unusually open interior with two double cabins and joystick-controlled pod propulsion. Its full-beam owner's cabin, separate lower dining area and connected cockpit and saloon suit families or two couples seeking a cruising boat with several distinct places to relax, rather than maximum cabin count.

The model in detail

Launched in 2009 as the replacement for the T47, the Sealine F46 belongs to the builder's British manufacturing era. Its design reflects the work of naval architect Richard Crocker and design director Carsten Astheimer. Angular exterior lines and an extensive wraparound windscreen distinguish it from earlier Sealine flybridges; the original review reported approximately 14 square metres of glazing around the living space.

The main deck connects an aft cockpit with L-shaped seating to a saloon containing opposing seating groups, through folding glass doors. Forward, an open atrium brings daylight down to the galley and four-person dinette. Outside, broad side decks lead forward, while the flybridge extends aft over the cockpit and provides a second helm, forward lounging space, C-shaped seating and a wet bar.

The usual accommodation comprises a full-beam owner's cabin beneath the saloon and a forward double guest cabin, providing four permanent berths. The owner has an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower; the forward toilet and shower occupy separate compartments. A convertible dinette adds an occasional double berth, and a third cabin was offered in place of the lower dining area. Contemporary reviews noted restricted headroom in parts of the owner's cabin.

Propulsion comes from two Cummins MerCruiser Diesel QSB 5.9 engines rated at 480 hp each, coupled to Zeus pods. Sealine's 2011 specification estimated maximum speed at 28–30 knots, while the launch test quoted cruising speeds of 18–25 knots. Joystick controls are provided at both helms. Positioning the machinery beneath the cockpit helps release accommodation volume farther forward, a significant reason for the unusually spacious lower-deck arrangement.

The GRP planing hull and superstructure measure 14.70 metres overall, with a 4.48-metre beam and 1.23-metre draft. Published dry weight is 15 tonnes, rather than the 17-tonne loaded displacement quoted in the launch test. Fuel capacity is 1,500 litres and freshwater capacity 505 litres. The model carries an RCD Category B rating and shares its hull platform with the SC47.

In 2012, Sealine developed the F46 into the F48, retaining the hull but revising the saloon, owner's cabin and storage. F46 equipment varies considerably: public inventories document generators, reverse-cycle air conditioning, hydraulic passerelles and flybridge cooking facilities, but these should not be assumed on every boat. The enclosed lower helm and multiple outdoor seating areas support both sheltered-weather cruising and warmer-water use; no dedicated crew accommodation is listed in the reviewed brokerage specification.
