What this boat is
The Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht is an Australian-built, enclosed sports cruiser combining a single-level entertaining deck with three- or four-cabin accommodation below. Its sheltered cockpit, aft galley and joystick-controlled Volvo Penta propulsion suit families and experienced owner-operators seeking fast coastal cruising without a flybridge. The Platinum Edition featured in the tour builds on the original design with revised exterior finishes, upgraded furnishings and additional equipment refinements.
The model in detail
Introduced at the 2014 Sydney International Boat Show, the Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht replaced the 5800 Sport Yacht. Built at Coomera on Queensland’s Gold Coast, the 19.30-metre model has a 5.38-metre beam and combines Riviera’s in-house design with an enclosed helm and a substantial covered cockpit. The original generation ran from 2014 to 2019; the Platinum Edition introduced in May 2019 continued the 6000 line rather than marking its end.
The principal living spaces share one level. An aft portside galley serves both the saloon and cockpit through a sliding glass door and opening awning window. Inside are opposing seating areas and a dining table; outside, sheltered lounges surround a table that can lower into a daybed. A transom cooking station, foredeck sunpads, opening sunroofs, an enclosed tender garage and a hydraulic bathing platform extend the boat’s outdoor facilities.
Below decks, buyers could specify three or four staterooms with three bathrooms. The principal arrangement includes an amidships master, a forward VIP double and a twin guest cabin; the fourth cabin adds bunks. Three-cabin alternatives substitute a lower lounge or enlarged Presidential master arrangement. A separate utility space can serve as crew accommodation. Riviera quotes sleeping capacity of eight to ten for the Platinum Edition, depending on configuration, rather than ten permanent guest berths in every boat.
Propulsion comes from two 10.8-litre Volvo Penta D11 diesels with IPS950 pod drives, each rated at 725 hp. Early trials recorded approximately 31 knots maximum and 26 knots at fast cruise. Published fuel capacities differ by generation: launch tests specify 2,650 litres, whereas Riviera’s Platinum specification lists 3,300 litres. Consequently, the early boat’s approximately 265-nautical-mile fast-cruise range should not be applied indiscriminately to later examples. Freshwater capacity is 800 litres.
Construction uses hand-laid fibreglass, with a solid laminate hull bottom to the chines, foam-cored topsides and an end-grain balsa-cored deck. A forward watertight collision bulkhead and compartmentation are incorporated into the hull. A short keel supplements the planing hull’s directional stability, particularly in following seas, while the IPS installation provides joystick manoeuvring. The Platinum Edition retains the established propulsion arrangement rather than introducing a different engine package.
Platinum changes include silver and black exterior accents, an extended hardtop, high-gloss walnut cabinetry, Sunbrella interior fabrics, revised helm seating and grey teak-deck caulking. Gyroscopic stabilisation was accommodated as an option, with a Seakeeper fitted to the 2019 test boat; a watermaker was also optional. The design supports owner-operated family cruising, although a crew cabin remains available. By September 2020, Riviera had completed the 100th hull of the 6000 design, demonstrating that production extended beyond the original generation’s 2019 changeover.

Frequent questions
The original model started at AUD 2,129,600 in 2014, while the Platinum Edition was advertised from AUD 2,499,800 in 2019. The researched pre-owned sample, covering both generations and excluding apparent duplicate advertisements, comprises 15 boats with asking prices of approximately EUR 866,000–2,132,000 and a median of EUR 1,644,000, using 16 October 2026 ECB exchange rates. These are advertised asking prices, not completed-sale values, and tax treatment varies.
Published launch trials recorded around 31 knots maximum and a 26-knot fast cruise, with approximately 265 nautical miles of range at that cruising speed. Those figures relate to an early 2,650-litre boat; the Platinum Edition’s published 3,300-litre capacity means range must be checked against the particular boat’s specification, load and fuel reserve.
Three- and four-stateroom layouts are available, both with three bathrooms. The four-cabin arrangement combines a master double, forward VIP double, twin cabin and bunk cabin; Riviera lists eight to ten sleeping places for the Platinum Edition depending on the accommodation configuration.
The design is intended to support owner-operated cruising, with IPS joystick controls assisting close-quarters handling. A separate utility room can be configured as crew accommodation, so employing crew is an ownership choice rather than a fixed feature of the layout.
Riviera builds the 6000 at Coomera, Queensland, Australia. Introduced in May 2019, the Platinum Edition added contrasting exterior finishes, upgraded interior materials, revised seating and hardtop refinements while retaining twin 725 hp Volvo Penta IPS950 propulsion.
Riviera-supplied launch sea-trial data published by TradeABoat lists combined engine consumption of 187 litres per hour at 22 knots, 232 litres per hour at 26 knots and 286 litres per hour at 31 knots. These are trial figures for an early boat, not guaranteed consumption for every loading condition or later example.
